Natural Ant Repellent Recipe

When I lived up in New York, I knew when spring arrived because teeny tiny ants would march themselves right in to my house via the sliding doors in the kitchen and begin systematically picking up and carrying out crumbs.

Ugh, every spring – same story.

I’m told they’re Ghost Ants which I guess are better than giant ass ants! LOL

As much as I love all creatures big and small, GAME IS ON with insects in my book!

I despise insects (except for a few varieties).

Honestly, I’m amazed that those little ants find anything to confiscate in my kitchen, as I am fastidiously clean.

NOTE: The downside is that you must re-spray often as it’s not a “one and done” treatment, however the positives are that this solution is completely natural, your house smells minty fresh, and you’ll have a shit ton of energy (a natural side effect of smelling mint)!

Natural Ant Repellent Recipe

Ingredients:

Pinch of salt
5 drops Peppermint essential oil
5 drops Spearmint essential oil
5 drops Lemon or Citronella essential oil
1 cup distilled water

Instructions:

1. Add the salt to a glass spray bottle (I use a stainless steel bottle with a spray top).
2. Add the Peppermint, Spearmint, and Lemon or Citronella essential oil.
3. Add distilled water to the bottle and shake to combine.
4. Spray along the baseboards and entrances where ants may enter the home.

Warning:

Always spot test in areas to make sure your surfaces will not discolor. Discoloration can occur on wood, carpet, and other surfaces. I sprayed around on a tile floor, so I didn’t have any issues, however… it’s better to make sure and do a test since all surfaces are different.
