Dying eggs is a lot of fun but the artificial dyes used in making all of those pretty colors can NOT be healthy.
SO, I went on a little hunt of my own…to find a healthier way to color eggs in celebration of Ostara, the spring equinox!
I thought I would share what I found with you! This is a great way to introduce healthier lifestyle choices into your child’s life.
Most children need time and numerous attempts before embracing new fruits and vegetables into their diet. The key is to keep introducing and reintroducing them in different ways!
This is a super-fun way to bond with your children, unleash your creativity and dye Ostara or Easter Eggs in a healthier and more natural way. Who needs all of those artificial colors? Nature will generously give you every color of the rainbow!
If you think of any other color formulas, please leave them for me in the comments box at the bottom of this post. I would love to hear from you!

My grandmother, back in the 50′s when I was a child, use to take purple onion skins and somehow wrap them around the eggs and I don’t know what she soaked them in but not one egg was the same design or color…. then after they dried she would polish them with oil or shortening and they were beautiful…
Hi Donna-
Thank you for the amazing suggestion! They sound beautiful! Easter eggs are so magical to children. I’m sure many parents will be trying your grandmother’s idea out once they read it here! I’m so happy you shared that with us.
